Bribie Island’s Volunteer Marine Rescue is proud to host a free action packed day of demonstrations, kids activities and lots of family fun. See the latest in emergency equipment in action and meet local Firefighters, Police, Ambulance Officers, Marine Rescue, SES, Surf Lifesavers and More!

  • Get up close to a fire truck, water cannon, marine rescue boats, and other high tech rescue equipment.
  • Live Westpac helicopter rescue and simulated bushfire display.
  • Watch a kitchen fire demonstration and learn how to react.
  • See a surf lifesaving rescue or watch a life raft deployment.
  • Free jumping castle, Little Squirt Fire Engine for the kids, stalls, sausage sizzle and more!

The Bribie Island combined emergency services expo is part of a state wide campaign to get you ready for the bushfire and storm season. This is a great way to learn more about how to get your home and family prepared. If everyone does a little to prepare, we can all accomplish a lot as a community.

  • 10.00 – 10.15 Bushfire simulated display by Rural Fire Service Qld – demonstration.
  • 10.15 – 10.30 Kitchen Fire demonstration by Fire & Rescue Services.
  • 10.30 – 10.45 MSQ Ship sourced pollution response vessel & Boom – On-water pollution control demonstration
  • 10.45-11.25 Road Crash Demonstration Rescue with Fire, Police & Ambulance officers
  • 11.25 – 11.40 SES Life Saving Water Rescue – On-water demonstration
  • 11.40 – 11.55 Surf Life Saving Water rescue – On-water demonstration
  • 11.55 – 12.15 Surf Life Saving Helicopter Water rescue and helicopter landing in Park
  • 12.15 – 12.30 MSQ Ship sourced pollution response vessel & Boom – On-water pollution control demonstration
  • 12.30 – 12.45 Flare demonstration from VMR vessel & Raft Deployment Demonstration from Shore by Koopa Navy Cadets
  • 12.45 – 13:00 Surf Life Saving Water rescue – On-water demonstration
  • 13.00 – 13.15 SES Life Saving Water Rescue – On-water demonstration
  • 13.15 – 13.30 Room/Kitchen fire demonstration by Fire & Rescue Service – demonstration
  • 13.30 – 13.45 High rise aerial platform Water cannon demonstration by Fire & Rescue Service
  • 13.45 – 14.00 Bushfire simulated display by Rural Fire Service Qld – demonstration

ALL DAY EVENTS:

  • The Rural Fire Service Qld Safety Bear, “Blazer” will teach kids about fire and how to keep family and friends safe
  • A small fire truck “Little Squirt” will take kids on rides all day
  • A mini Ambulance for kids to experience
  • Jumping castle is free and open all day for the kids to enjoy
  • Treasure Hunt Competition for kids of all ages.
  • Visit each of the stalls and receive a stamp. Once completed, go to the MSRC marquee and drop off your Entry.
  • Check out the Ambulance Communication & Transport Carrier used for Emergency disasters.
  • Check out the Fire Urban Search & Rescue Communications Carrier used for Fire Emergency disasters
  • The Energex Emergency Response vehicle will be open to inspect
  • Rescue Vessels Take a tour inside the rescue vessels of VMR Bribie, VMR Brisbane, Coast Guard Redcliff and the Water Police Vessel “GJ Olive”
  • VMR Boat crew will conduct information sessions on safe boating and safe navigation. What is in a Grab Bag. How to use Flares and V Sheet. How make an emergency Radio call
  • Koopa Navy Cadets will conduct sessions on how to rig and de-rig a sailing vessel
  • Koopa Navy Cadets will explain how to use a life raft and what to do. Life raft on display
  • Koopa Navy Cadets will conduct rope typing demonstrations
  • The Maritime Safety Military Cadets will set up an Obstacle course – come and try it
